MINUTES OF LONE STAR CHAPTER NATIONAL DEFENSE INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION Board Meeting – April 4, 2006 The Board meeting was called at 7:10 p.m. by Wayne Trimmer, President of the Lone Star Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association. ATTENDANCE: Perry Cockerell, Jim Grant, Kirk Kirkpatrick, Chester McKeen, Dick Spivey, and Wayne Trimmer. GUESTS: Teri Taylor, Don Hartman. Financial Report. Trimmer gave the financial report submitted from Pat King from 9/30/2004 through 2/28/2006. The year end balance as of 9/30/2004 was $7,456.89. The current balance as of 2/28/2006 is $8,151.57. The report is available upon request. Grant moved to accept the financial report. Kirkpatrick second. Passed unanimously. New Board Members. Trimmer brought up new board members. Trimmer proposed Don Hartman with Genesis 10. Cockerell proposed Admiral Jim Lair, Head of TSA at DFW Airport. Spivey proposed Rich Lynhart with Bell Helicopter. Kirkpatrick moved to approve Hartman, Lair, Lyndhart as new directors if they accept. Seconded by McKeen. Unanimously approved. Existing Board Members. Trimmer discussed contacting existing directors to determine whether they want to continue to serve. Contacts will be made to existing board members to determine whether they want to continue to serve. ROTC Award. Trimmer gave a report from Gerald Craddick. The local awards for UTA, TCU & SMU are approved for $250 each. An awards ceremony at UTA is April 28. Grant moved to reaffirm the award at $750. Seconded by Spivey. Passed unanimously. Future Meetings. Trimmer discussed future meetings of the council and his efforts to coordinate a meeting for the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff and Assistant Secretary of Defense. Other possible speakers were discussed. Grant and Kirkpatrick emphasized that the group coordinate with other organizations such as AFA, Navy League, World Affairs Council, Marine Corp Association and other groups. Women in Defense Presentation. Teri Taylor from General Dynamics gave a power point handout presentation on the Women in Defense group nationwide and her efforts to organize the first group in Texas. She has 20 committed women and needs an additional 15 to secure a charter. The annual cost is $35. She discussed a core organization board that could be transitional and consisting of six people. The directors discussed how the NDIA could assist in getting the charter started. Kirkpatrick moved that the board come up with a list of names to begin the organizational structure. Seconded by Cockerell. Motion passed unanimously. Aircraft Survivability Conference. Trimmer discussed the request from Bill Rhoades with Vaught Aircraft, that the board host an aircraft survivability conference. It was discussed that the chapter would support hosting a conference if it was planned by the national NDIA organization. Website. Cockerell requested that the board approve the counsel purchasing a website. Grant moved that the board pay no more than $400 for the website. Seconded by McKeen. Passed unanimously. Election. A motion was made by McKeen to elect Perry Cockerell as the new president. Seconded by Spivey. Passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned. Photograph taken of the Directors by Teri Taylor.
